Helping Anderson-Cherokee County Families Navigate IDD Resources with Confidence

Finding the right support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can be challenging. Between navigating resources, coordinating care, and addressing crises, families often feel lost in the system.

At ACCESS, we simplify the process. We provide assessment, coordination, crisis intervention, and long-term support for children and adults with IDD, related conditions, and pervasive developmental disorders like Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Our goal is to help individuals and their families navigate available resources, build independence, and enhance quality of life through personalized care and service coordination.

Who Qualifies for IDD Services?

To be eligible for Service Coordination, individuals must require at least two or more types of support, excluding Service Coordination itself. These may include:

  • Medical services
  • Vocational training and employment assistance
  • Social support and community integration
  • Independent living skills training
  • Other essential services that enhance daily life

How We Help

Once eligibility is confirmed, a dedicated Service Coordinator will work closely with the individual and their family to develop a person-directed plan, ensuring services align with their unique needs and goals.

Programs We Coordinate

We provide access to state and community-based programs that offer tailored support:

  • Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Waiver: Provides residential assistance, supported employment, day programs, and other long-term supports.
  • Community First Choice (CFC): Offers personal assistance services, habilitation support, and emergency response services to help individuals live independently.
  • General Revenue (GR) Services: Provides flexible funding for services not covered by waivers.
  • Texas Home Living (TxHmL) Waiver: Supports individuals living in their family home or independently with essential services and therapies.

Additional Services

ACCESS also manages:

  • HCS and TxHmL Interest Lists for Anderson and Cherokee Counties
  • Enrollment of individuals authorized by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) into HCS and TxHmL programs
